Here at Platform 3 we have a range of seven converted railway wagons for glamping use.

Ranging from a Great Western Toad brakevan to a Southern Railway’s Parcels Miscellaneous Van and even British Railways Shark Ballast brakevans; each is individually restored and sympathetically converted to comfortable overnight accommodation.

Each unit comes with its own toilet compartment with hot and cold water, table and seating and hot drink making facilities but most importantly a unique view of the North Yorkshire Moors railway running lines and long siding head shunt here in Pickering. Glampers also have 24 hour access to a dedicated shower room facility in the main building.

We are now taking bookings for the 2022 holiday season.

Southern Railways PMV

Constructed in 1936 by the Southern as a parcel and luggage van this is our family unit comprising Kingsize bed and two single beds arranged as bunks.

Our London Midland & Scottish (LMS) Brake Van

Built to Diagram 1919 in 1937 our LMS Brake Van is a Kingsize Bed unit.

GWR Toad Brake Van

Our 1940 built Great Western Railway Toad Brake Van was rescued from the West Midlands and is a Kingsize Bed unit.

British Railways 20-ton Standard Brake Van

Built in Darlington by Faverdales in 1962, this coach-built wooden framed brake van is a Kingsize bed unit.

British Railways 12-ton Box Van

One of thousands that used to transport all manner of goods up and down the UK before the advent of shipping containers, this is a twin unit with two single beds arranged as bunks

British Railways 20-ton Shark Ballasting Brake Van

Used to level and shape ballasting aggregates right up until the 1990s, our Shark unit is a Kingsize unit.
